Data You Send Directly
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that powers that result. Mountain View Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search entries on its own servers. If you contact the operators, the mailbox receives the information in your message and uses it to answer or handle the request.
Ordinary Technical Logs
Hosting systems may record an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring page, and timestamps. Those logs support security, uptime, and aggregate traffic review. Cookies or related technologies may be used for basic analytics or, where applicable, advertising measurement. Their use is controlled by the relevant hosting, analytics, or advertising provider.
How Limited Data Is Used
Data is used to operate the pages, diagnose errors, understand aggregate traffic, respond to a message, and improve the reference. The operators do not sell a visitor list or create a personal profile from the searches. The search provider may use submitted data under its own terms, so read that provider’s notice before entering information.
Links to Other Services
Pages link to Santa Clara County portals, Mountain View offices, California agencies, courts, libraries, archives, USPS, and third-party search tools. Once a link is followed, that service’s privacy policy and data practices apply. Sponsored search results are supplied by a third party, and the operators do not control what that provider collects, returns, charges, or retains.
Who May Receive Information
Hosting and technical service providers may process server logs. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. A valid legal demand may require disclosure. No other routine disclosure is intended. Government records described by the reference remain with their custodians and are outside the operators’ control.
Security and Retention
The pages use an encrypted connection. Logs are kept only for the operational, security, measurement, or legal purpose that requires them, subject to the host’s retention settings. There are no user accounts here, so the operators do not hold a password or personal profile for a reader to expose.
Readers Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. The operators do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor is believed to have sent information through the contact route, use the Contact page so the operators can review and delete what they control.
California Data Rights
California’s Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 and following, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, can give eligible consumers rights to know, delete, correct, limit certain sensitive-information uses, and opt out of sale or sharing by covered businesses. The California Delete Act, Senate Bill 362, created a California Privacy Protection Agency data-broker deletion mechanism. Those laws apply according to their definitions and exemptions.
Because this reference keeps very little, a request usually means checking the contact mailbox and available server logs, then deleting data the operators control. Use the Contact page for a request. Records held by the State of California, Santa Clara County, Mountain View, a court, or another custodian are not controlled here. Ask that custodian about correction, sealing, or deletion. The California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000 through 7931.000, governs public-record access, not a private website’s ability to remove an official record.
